What will you choose?

There comes a time in every believers life when you have to make a decision.

Am I going to “fly under the radar”..do just enough to get into heaven. Just enough so others know I’m a Christian without sacrificing too much. Maybe if that’s all I do satan and his demons will..maybe..pass on by..not give me too much trouble.

If we are all being honest that can sound pretty appealing. If you are a well seasoned Christian you probably have already asked yourself this question. If you are doing hard things and watching the Lord show up..you probably didn’t choose this easy way.. and I’m guessing if you are a seasoned Christian and you don’t recall making this decision you are probably the one I just mentioned.. it takes work to go against the current.. so if it doesn’t feel hard you are probably going the same direction as the rest of the crowd.

I have to believe that the easier choice..the “safe” choice while getting you into heaven will also come with regret and disobedience attached to it. Sure you are going to heaven but who are you bringing with you? If that was what we were supposed to do Jesus would have never came to earth because He was already in paradise. Thank goodness He came and did the hard thing… lived a perfect life and died so we can live. So we can tell others about what He did. So we can bring others to the freedom that is found only through Him. He did say in John 14 that we would do even greater things than He and He did a lot of pretty amazing things.

I have never read a story about anyone in the Bible who was merely “mediocre” for God. Sure, they may have been just ordinary, lowly people but God called all of them to do some pretty uncomfortable things. None of them were equipped. None of them had all the answers. None of them went to a class to teach them exactly what to do. But they all had a radical Faith in God and a fear of Him that led to obedience to what He was calling them to in that moment. And because of their radical Faith and obedience in what He could do through them many people were saved, set free, and delivered. You see, when God asks you to do something it will almost always require more than your skill set, more that the resources you have. If you have all the answers and everything perfectly in line for the job that would require zero faith..and guess what.. you get the glory. But when you step out in Faith with just the word the Lord gave you and an open hand.. you get to see miracles. Many people are touched by your obedience..and God gets all the glory. That is what Paul is talking about in 2 Corinthians 12:9 when he said “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. That is why for Christs sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong”

I think about God calling Moses who struggled in his speech to lead His chosen people out of bondage to the land He had promised for them. His people were set free.

Abraham when God told him to leave his fathers house and everything and everyone that he knew to a land He would show him. He got up and went. He is known as the Father of many nations.

Queen Esther when she risked her life to go before her husband, the King, to save her people. She was there “for such a time as this”

We are here in this generation in this year for such a time as this. The Bible says in 2 Chronicles 16:9 that the eyes of the Lord are roaming the earth looking for those whose hearts completely belong to Him, so that He may strongly support them. I don’t know about you but when the eyes of the Lord see me and I want them to stop and say “There is my daughter whose heart belongs completely to me” and what comfort we can have knowing that he supports us. The creator of all things. The Lord speaks to His people through His Holy Spirit. He tells us what it is He is calling us to do in the season we are in. It is our choice to be obedient or disobedient to that calling.

If you haven’t already its time for you to decide. Are you going to fly under the radar or are you going to step out in radical faith for whatever the Lord wants to do in you and through you? I encourage you to not fall to the lies of the enemy that whisper to you.. you are not good enough or smart enough to do that thing the Lord has called you to. Remember God’s power is made perfect in our weaknesses. He doesn’t want our formulated plan. He wants our obedient heart and open hands so He can do the work.

I can promise you it wont be easy but I can also promise you that it will be worth it because I know the life that God has hand picked for you and me is going to be far greater than anything we can manipulate or fabricate for ourselves.

You were made for such a time as this.
