Meet me at the Table 3
| I don’t know about you but I have caught myself more than once seeking God about a situation; inviting Him in, praying for Him to intervene.. and He does- but only I don’t consciously realize it until a week later and I’m thinking oh yeah..that situation worked out. I can say that doesn’t happen as often anymore. As I’ve grown in my spiritual walk, the Spirit speaks to me and reminds me of things… Spiritual things are more at the forefront of my mind than the back of it. I’m thankful for that. How many times do we do things for others and never hear the words “Thank you.” I know most of us don’t do the things we do for a “thank you” but it sure is sweet to the soul when someone recognizes our hard work and takes a minute to tell us that. My husband is amazing at this very thing. Any time we are at a restaurant, a fast food place especially, he makes a point to look the workers in the eye and say “Thank you for being here today.. if you weren’t here we couldn’t eat.” When you really think about it- shouldn’t all followers of Christ do that more? Being more intentional and take the time to look those around us in the eyes and give them a little positivity in their day? Help us Lord, to see people the way you see them. Let heavenly things interrupt our earthly things of hurrying about our day- moving on to the next task or the to the next place. Sometimes the only thing the devil has to do in your life is make you busy. So busy that you miss the opportunities to be Christ to those right in front of you. Lord, help us be the one that comes back and says “Thank you!” When you show up. When you answer that prayer. When you work that thing out. Let your praise be the first thing out of our lips! What about those things He hasn’t worked out yet? The prayer that hasn’t been answered yet? Thank Him for the trials because we know that produces endurance in us; it refines us. Thank Him in advance that He has worked all things out for our good and His glory for those who love Him. Thank Him for protecting you from things you don’t even know He has protected you from. Maybe forgetting something at home and having to turn around caused you frustration but it protected you from the car that ran that red light. His plans are always perfect even when it “seems” frustrating to us in the moment. I can’t imagine how many things He has protected me from that I have no idea about. I encourage you today to take a moment and just simply tell God “Thank you.” Be the one that goes back and gives Him the praise that he is so due. |
